2019 Stead Leadership Seminar Awards

At the 2019 Stead Leadership Seminars held jointly on Aug. 1-3, 2019 at the University of Denver and Washington University in St. Louis, the following chapters were recognized for their achievements during the previous academic year. All chapters are entered for awards based on their completion of the CORE Report.

DISTINGUISHED CHAPTER AWARDS

Grand High Alpha Award

Epsilon-Eta Zeta from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Omega Zeta from Auburn
Delta-Phi Zeta from Southeast Missouri State

 

 

 

 

 

The Grand High Alpha Award recognizes chapters that have maintained a superior level of operations for at least three consecutive years. A chapter may not earn the Grand High Alpha again until at least three years have elapsed since previously winning award. The 2019 recipients are:

  • Epsilon-Eta (Rensselaer Polytechnic)
  • Omega (Auburn)
  • Delta-Phi (Southeast Missouri State)

Phoenix Award

Phi-Mu Zeta from Bowling Green State

 

 

 

 

 

The Phoenix Award is presented to a chapter that has made unusually positive strides in overall chapter operations for at least three consecutive years, taking into consideration improved membership size, depth of programming, and risk-free operations. The 2019 recipients are:

  • Phi-Mu (Bowling Green State)
  • Pi-Mu South Dakota Mines

Feeding America Award

Pi Zeta receives the top Feeding America Award for collecting more than 200,000 meals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the 2018-2019 academic year, our chapters collected more than 2,409,000 meals for Feeding America. This total again exceeded our increased goal. Thank you to all of the chapters for your efforts to help end food insecurity. The top three 2019 recipients are:

  • Pi (Worcester Polytechnic) – 206,691 meals collected
  • Gamma-Upsilon (North Carolina State) –167,080 meals collected
  • Pi-Gamma (Kent State) – 140,982 meals collected

 

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Fraternity Advisor of the Year

Kristen Kardas receives the Fraternity Advisor of the Year Award

 

 

 

 

 

The Fraternity Advisor of the Year Award is given annually to a Fraternity or Greek Adviser who has rendered exemplary service to the Greek system on a particular campus or on a number of campuses. The 2019 recipient is:

  • Kristen Kardas – Assistant Director for Sorority & Fraternity Life, Ohio University

CHAPTER AWARDS

Bruce H. McIntosh Standards for Chapter Excellence

The McIntosh Standards for Chapter Excellence Award recognizes chapters who effectively use the Standards for Chapter Excellence program to continuously improve their fraternal experience. The 2019 recipients are:

  • Alpha-Lambda (Oregon State)
  • Beta-Psi (Missouri State)
  • Delta-Phi (Southeast Missouri State)
  • Epsilon-Eta (Rensselaer Polytechnic)

Lewis A. Plourd Fraternity Education

The Plourd Fraternity Education Award is presented to chapters whose outstanding Fraternity Education Program includes the entire membership, involves alumni, and incorporates a highly effective Big Brother program. The 2019 recipients are:

  • Alpha-Chi (Richmond)
  • Beta-Psi (Missouri State)
  • Delta-Tau (Millersville)
  • Delta-Phi (Southeast Missouri State)
  • Gamma-Upsilon (North Carolina State)

  • Pi-Alpha (South Carolina – Aiken)
  • Pi-Lambda (St. Louis College of Pharmacy)

Rev. S. George “Doc” Dirghalli Scholastic Programming

The Dirghalli Scholastic Programming Award recognizes chapters that have developed an outstanding program resulting in superior academic achievement of its members. The 2019 recipients are:

  • Alpha-Chi (Richmond)
  • Delta-Phi (Southeast Missouri State)
  • Epsilon-Eta (Rensselaer Polytechnic)

Tozier Brown Public Affairs Program Award

The Brown Public Affairs Program Award Recognizes chapters with the most outstanding programs of community service and philanthropic activities. The award is divided into two categories, Public Affairs Programs and Most Outstanding Public Affairs Project. The 2019 recipients are:

The Cole Recruitment Award recognizes chapters that have developed and implemented well organized and effective recruitment programs. The 2019 recipients are:
