Cross & Crescent named “Best Online Magazine” by the Fraternity Communications Association
The 2016 Fraternity Communications Association Annual Conference was held May 11-13 in Washington D.C. where over 50 different Greek organizations came together for education, networking and professional recognition.
With the FCA receiving over 800 submissions for award consideration, the fraternal association honored the Cross & Crescent with two first place awards. Named the “Best Online Magazine” and receiving the “Publication Improvement” for a magazine or tabloid award, this is the first major FCA win for the C&C in recent memory.
“Great overall,” said one judge. “What an online-only publication should aspire to.”
Judges also commended the C&C for its continuous publication schedule, clear announcement of convention and solid navigation, stating that, “The application shows the possibilities of how websites and other digital applications can be executed.”
Regarding the new direction the published magazine has taken since it’s redesign in February of 2015 judges noted that, “This redesign and now magazine has a sense of being more progressive and nimble, allowing for variety in presentation with a little flair for the dramatic. All the while, the page architecture provides a foundation that keeps the branding reinforced and navigation simple.”
“There’s certainly a dramatic change with this redesign. It feels like a different magazine and brings a different reading experience for members.”

The Fraternity Communications Association, formerly the College Fraternity Editors Association (CFEA), offers a long and resplendent history as a prime force behind the founding, organization and proliferation of the fraternity movement.
As a professional association, FCA is composed of fraternities and sororities, affiliates and associate members. The organization is unique within the fraternity movement in that the organization, not the individual editor, holds membership.
