For the past two months, we have been highlighting the meaning of our Core Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service & Stewardship, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. Those values shape the members of our Fraternity in a way that impacts the rest of their lives. It initiates a small voice reminding members to think of their values through each situation they walk through.
The definition of each Core Value is easily found with a Google Search, but finding examples of people who embody them is difficult. Some of our guests have taken their examples literally; Chris Meyer explained the ways he has been Loyal to the Fraternity after years involvement with our Educational Foundation. High Pi’s use the Honor value by protecting our Fraternity men with heavy involvement on the chapter level. The ones featured on our blog and podcast only skim the surface to what examples Lambda Chi Alpha has cultivated.
Our undergraduate members thrive on the illustration of others to set the tone for what their future will look like. The individuals who choose to stay involved and invest in them are preparing a generation of value-based men. Adversely, undergraduate members who already embody these values encourage our alumnus that the future is bright.
Lambda Chi Alpha is moving in a direction that is going to shake the Fraternal community to its core. We are preparing to make changes that this community will experience for the first time. Our mission guides us to, “inspire and equip men to lead an ethical life of growth, service and leadership.” In order to do that, our process and outlook needs to change. Over the next several years, we are using our Mission, Vision and Core Values to model how Lambda Chi Alpha will become a premiere Fraternity that produces men of value.
